The program has started in 2009, supervising small numbers of graduate students, and offering a combination of language, history and culture courses for BA students, in collaboration with Hebrew University in Jerusalem and Kyiv Mohyla Academy in Kyiv. Over the next three years the program established a core curriculum located solely at UCU, and will appoint a permanent chair in Jewish Studies at the university. The chair will be established and supported through a generous donation (endowment) by Canadian Philanthropist James Temerty.
